We’ve seen quite a few changes announced by all levels of government in the last few months. With the change in provincial government earlier this year and municipal property taxes making their way out to businesses, we take stock of how the proposed changes in policies impact the layered cost of operating a business in Calgary.
Dive Deeper – Canada’s new trade agreements and access to worldwide markets
The federal government has been active on the world stage negotiating and signing free trade agreements. Within the last four years, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) were signed. [Survey] On June 10, 2019, the Government of Alberta passed the Red Tape Reduction Act. The goal of the Act is to reduce unnecessary regulations in the province by one-third. 'Canadians for Natural Resources' campaign presented in Rio de Janeiro
In June, Calgary Chamber President and CEO Sandip Lalli, travelled to Rio de Janeiro to speak at a panel discussion at the International Chamber of Commerce’s eleventh World Chambers Congress sharing the Canadians for Natural Resources campaign.
This Thursday, the Chamber is hosting the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Federal Minister of Natural Resources, for a conversation on the future of Canada's natural resources and how it impacts Alberta's economy.
